Introducing Gold Class Theaters , which opens today in The Village at Fairview, the area quickly becoming more and more like a Park Cities on the prairie every day. In fact, while Highland Park Village awaits the luxury re-do of its theater, folks in Allen are already in the short queue, Cosmos in hand. Now this is a theater : orange ultra suede seats, a compartment for your handbag (mine, a veritable suitcase, is hiding in the compartment under my arm in this photo); soft plush blankets and pillows on a posture-pedic perfect reclining chaise. The theater felt more like a screening room, actually, and the place is spotless. Gum stuck to these seats and greasy popcorn buckets on the floor? No way, not here.
Kids tend to not get dropped offВ at Gold Class Theaters — they are more likely to attend with their parents. The elegance starts the minute you walk in and up the escalator at Gold Class. First of all, you won’t be freaking that you’ll not get a seat in the theater after dropping $10.50 on the ticket because you will have pre-paid and reserved your seat online. And yes, you actually choose your seat, as you do on an airplane. But not to worry — there are only 40 seats in each Gold Class theater and not one is bad. You can also walk-in and buy a seat. The interiors at Fairview resembled the Palomar hotel — even to the art on the walls. Not movie posters, but real contemporary paintings that are for sale. Here’s how high the detail of quality is: the soap in the ladies room probably runs $20 a bottle so the soap dispensers have to be secured to the limestone counters. (They may need to secure the lotion, too.)
